Black Friday Trunk Show featuring Cogan
What an exciting weekend at Eye Candy! We kicked it off on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. While some people were fighting the crowds at the mall, our customers were having a wonderful time at our Trunk Show. On Friday we featured Cogan. This awesome collection from France was shown by our wonderful rep, Tracy Kapsch. Shoppers were delighted by the beautiful temple treatments and color combinations that is essence of this collection. Sophisticated with attitude, this collection was a hit with men and women alike. Check out the video below:
On Saturday, the fun continued with our second Trunk Show this time featuring Studio 3. Thank you to Bernie Stewart for bringing his entire collection of these beautiful, hand painted, Italian frames. Each piece is unique with striking color combinations, and temple treatments with amazing details like stained glass. Visitors looking for 'something different' for their eyewear weren't disappointed. The hard part was deciding which one to choose!

International Vision Expo – Las Vegas
What happens in Vegas comes to Delafield! The Eye Candy girls closed the store for a couple of days and headed to Vegas to warm sunny days and some HOT eyewear! So much to see, so hard to choose. But we settled on three brand new lines that we knew our customers couldn’t live without. Switch – sports sunwear with interchangeable lenses that are attached with magnets. “Switching” them out is a snap! Next is Eye’DC. Do you love hot colors and edgy funky styles? Then you’re gonna love Eye’DC! And last but not least, Dilem. With Dilem you get two pairs of temples with each frame so you can vary the look of your glasses quick and easy. And you can order additional pairs to add even more options. Amazing!

Delafield’s Fall Art Walk
A little cool and breezy but that didn’t stop tons of people from coming to Delafield’s Fall Art Walk. Here at Eye Candy we featured All Hallond Designs by artist Jenn Hintz. Her beautiful metal art was admired by everyone who came by. We also had a live jazz music just outside – the Danny Miller Band really made the evening fun. And as always, horse drawn carriage rides, refreshments and lots of great art made this an event not to miss.

Paula Hornbeck of Eye Candy Named One of U.S. Optical Industry's "Most Influential Women"
When Paula put the plans together to open Eye Candy, she knew she wanted her eyewear boutique to be something more than the average 2-for-1 mall experience. She wanted a fun and exciting place where people could express their individuality and feel confident in their glasses.
While she fully expected Eye Candy to be a hit with her customers, she didn’t expect to be honored as one of the “Most Influential Women” in the optical Industry!
Paula’s not one to rest on her laurels. She’s packing and gearing up for her trip to Las Vegas for the 2009 Vision Expo, where she’ll scoop up the hottest trends and newest styles and bring them back for you!
Be sure to congratulate Paula when you stop in the store- we’re very proud of her!

Delafield’s Block Party
This is the event of the summer! The city blocks off Milwaukee Street for two days and Eye Candy is smack in the middle of all the action. Food, bands, and non-stop fun! And what better way to really make it a party than to have Tim and Mo back with their awesome collection of Chrome Hearts and Blinde. With sterling silver accents, leather and wood temples, and cutting edge styles these frames and sunglasses can make anyone look and feel like a rock star. And joining them was another great friend of Eye Candy, Joe with his cool line from California -- Salt. Classic styles with a contemporary twist, Salt looks great and fits like a dream. To show off these 3 amazing collections, we partnered with Craig Berns Salon and Spa who supplied us with local models and we had our own sunglass runway style show. Each model was outfitted with the newest looks from each collection and they had a blast strutting their stuff. Even the brief thunderstorm that rolled through later didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.

International Vision Expo East – New York City
Two weeks later, Paula and Dena closed up shop and headed to fabulous New York City for Vision Expo East. We just loved all of the great new styles we saw at the show! Besides ordering the hot new styles from our current frame vendors we couldn’t resist putting in two great new lines. Cogan is a French company based out of Canada. The styles are colorful, beautiful and sophisticated with just a bit of sass. Iyoko Inyake is an awesome collection from Japan. Amazing designs and color combinations – hot!

March Spring Fever Trunk Show!
It’s Paula and Dena’s favorite time of the year – our birthdays! So it must be time for a party – and party we did! You could tell the party girls ‘cause they were wearing green to honor St. Pat and the shop was decked out with green balloons and refreshments. To celebrate this year, we had a double trunk show and featured both J.F. Rey and Beausoleil. J.F. Rey – funky, edgy and totally fun was a huge hit with our visitors. And so was Beausoleil – so hip, so gorgeous – so French. Our good friend and rep, Anthoney was busy all day showing one great new style after the other. A great time was had by all!

Friday night, Delafield hosted the Spring Art Walk, and keeping in style, we opened our doors for a trunk show featuring the artistic creations of two great eyewear lines. Roberto Comelli brought his entire collection of Studio 3—beautiful, hand painted frames from Italy. It was hard to resist the bold designs and unique color combinations that this exclusive line of frames offers. And with his wonderful Italian accent, Roberto charmed men and women alike. In addition, Joyce Ellen Hutchens from Silhouette was here with her luxurious collection of Daniel Swarovski eyewear and sunwear. Each piece is embellished with crystals—truly jewelry for your eyes. APRIL 14, 2008 International Vision Expo 2008 – New York City

The Grand Opening of Eye Candy!
What an exciting day! At 10 am Paula unlocked the doors to her dream come true — Eye Candy, Unique Eyewear and Sunwear for Sun and Sports! The shop was filled with happy well-wishers, flowers—and shoppers. Our first trunk show featured 3 special frame lines. Marliss Ganellen, frame designer and representative for her company, Eye Think was here with her fun and funky frames. How cool to be able to be styled by the designer herself! Joining her was Matt Phillips with Kio Yamato. These awesome frames and sunglasses are designed and made in Japan and feature beautiful acetates and titanium's in unique, wearable designs. Rounding out the trio was Don Shouse with TAG Heuer and Fred. TAG Heuer bills itself as “sports vision” but most people find the frames and sunglasses are too cool to wear just for sports. The comfortable fit and classic colors made TAG a popular choice for our visitors. And the exquisite Fred line is simply eyewear as jewelry—gorgeous! But the snow that started falling in the morning got heavier and heavier as Delafield got hit with an 8 inch blizzard. What a memorable start! |
